Meet Rachel – City Council Member Elect

Rachel is your new Columbia Heights City Council Member! Her term begins January 2023.

Rachel grew up in Minnesota on a small dairy farm with a big family. From an early age, Rachel was involved in volunteering and leadership programs. She loved the community connection of the small town. She led service projects, including the Adopt-a-Highway campaign and nursing home visits. Rachel was a statewide leader in 4-H and Future Leaders of America. Her family regularly utilized the local food shelf and free lunches at school. Rachel is passionate about helping provide food security to families in our community.

I am serving you  on City Council because

– I love to serve my community and make a difference in people’s lives.
– I want to build a more reflective democracy in Columbia Heights. I work to bring people into the movement and get new folks involved in leadership.
– I have enjoyed being involved in governmental processes – as far back as the “parliamentary procedures” team in high school.
– I love to connect with my neighbors and solve problems.
– I am ready for a challenge and am excited to roll up my sleeves for the hard work required to make new ideas a reality.
– I bring positivity, energy, optimism, and creativity to every situation, striving to make our town better for everyone
